PARTICIPANT APPLICATION
Program Year 2027
This application is open to single moms between the ages of 13 and 35 who are currently parenting or pregnant. You must meet ALL criteria below at application and throughout enrollment.
What We Mean by 'Single Mother': For the purposes of this program, a single mother is a mother who does not share a home with a man who helps support her or her child(ren), unless that man is a member of her own immediate family, such as her father, grandfather, or adult brother. A man who shares her home is understood to contribute to that household, regardless of how expenses are divided. A mother who lives with a boyfriend, the father of her child(ren), or any other man who is not part of her immediate family is not considered a single mother and is not eligible to participate. Living with her own immediate family does not affect her eligibility. This requirement applies for the entire time a mother is in the program: a participant who begins sharing her home with such a man will be removed from the program. Being unmarried alone does not establish eligibility.
Age: Applicants must be between 13 and 35 years of age.
Parenting Status: You must be a single mother currently parenting at least one child, or currently pregnant.
Education or Employment: You must be enrolled in school (working toward a diploma or GED) or actively employed or seeking employment.
Financial Need: You must demonstrate financial need or be working toward financial independence.
Cost-Sharing: Program assistance is partial. You are expected to cover a portion of your own expenses.
Program Participation: You must agree to monthly financial reviews and weekly Hope Sessions.
Subsequent Pregnancy: You agree to delay a subsequent pregnancy while enrolled and receiving benefits.
Program resources are available ONLY while you are actively attending school or working. Benefits may be paused or terminated if you are not pursuing your education or employment goals.
No cash payments are ever issued directly to participants. All payments go directly to service providers (landlords, schools, childcare centers, etc.).
If your service provider cannot or will not accept program payments, that benefit is forfeited.
Basic contact information — all fields required unless marked optional.
Housing assistance is not provided to a participant who shares her home with a man who helps support her household, other than an immediate family member. This policy reflects our mission to support stable, independent living.
Privacy Policy
Tell us about your child (or children). Add more if needed.
Where you're at with school right now.
Active participants who are enrolled in school are required to maintain a 'C' average or better. If your grades drop below this, contact your Program Director so we can connect you with support.
We ask about income to figure out how to help — not to judge how much or how little you have.
You must disclose ALL sources of income and financial support — including from the child's father, family members, government programs, and other nonprofits. Failure to disclose may result in reassessment of eligibility or dismissal from the program.
In the space below, tell us about yourself. Why are you applying for Hope with YouMom? What are you hoping to achieve — for yourself and your child? There is no right or wrong answer. We want to hear from you in your own words.
Confirm you have these ready, then review your answers before submitting.
Before your application can be reviewed, you'll need:
A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport),
Proof of income (pay stub, benefit letter, or employer letter), and
Proof of residence (lease agreement or utility bill).
